I am not a perpetual complainer, but I have to say that I am ready for summer to be over. Is it time for fall yet? I am ready for the hot hot heat to end, so that I can start enjoying the outdoors. I am that person-the one who stays inside all summer with the air conditioner blasting, and sporting the pale skin look. I don’t mind it, it’s just who I am. Now that we are in the month of August, I have to stop and get a little giddy about the fact that fall is just around the corner.
I ran across this Buzzfeed article mentioning the “24 Things about Fall That Will Put a Smile on Your Face”. I can’t say that I am a big fan of everything pumpkin flavored, but I on occasion will enjoy a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks.
If I were to redo the list on Buzzfeed, or at least add some items to the list, here are the things that I would include.
1.Wearing long sleeves and not sweating! I love wearing plaid shirts, layering cardigans over shirts, and rocking the “chic but grunge” look. Sadly, summertime does not allow me to wear what I want due to the extreme heat. The fall months of September, October, and November provide a cool climate that allows layering, but not to the point where you are required to wear a thick coat.
2.Back-to-school supplies. I haven’t been in school since (eek) 2008. Despite my lack of furthering my education, I still love running to Target and buying new pens, Sharpies, and notebooks. Being a Leasing Consultant, we always need pens…and back-to-school time feeds my addiction of buying office supplies. The day that I have a child starting school will end up being the day I go bankrupt.
3. College dorm décor. Again, I am not in college, nor do I live in a dorm, but I can’t shake the desire to buy bright colored lights and comforters for no apparent reason, other than I just need it. This is also a good time to get discounted sheets for a guest bedroom and cheap dinnerware for those times when you don’t need to be fancy at home. In my 2 bedroom apartment at Camden, we have already bought a new shower curtain, new clothes hangers and lights from the “college” section of Target.
4.Opening the windows. I love air conditioning, but I would rather be able to have my windows open and smell the fresh air. At night, I love to sit out on my balcony just to enjoy the cool air of fall.
5.My favorite holiday is Halloween, which happens to be in fall. I love dressing up in crazy wigs and costumes, and Halloween is the one night where no one with judge.
You tell me, are you ready for fall? What are your favorite things about the fall season?
